Any thoughts on this?

“Sing songs that work”…it’s something I constantly come back to as a measuring stick for songs that stay in the used once pile vs songs that always are on the “top” of the used once pile.
Songs that cause people to connect? Priceless!

Great article Debbie. Thanks for posting.
I like the “Use familiar songs” paragraph. I find that to be so true. The musicians are tired of the song before the congregation learns it. I don’t usually like hanging around a song for long. I know during the renewal we wore “Light the Fire Again” out.

Seth,
It’s funny how that works. The songs seem to speak for themselves. I’ve done songs that I really liked but after singing them two or three times they seemed to disappear. I didn’t make a conscious choice to remove them from the playlist, they just removed themselves.
