Greetings Worship Junkies! Recently I had a dream and thought it was worth sharing with you all. Now, I don’t remember dreams much, so this is a rarity! It went like this…
My wife, Ann, and I (and some others which I don’t remember) had visited an old house which was now being used for assorted scientific research. As we were walking through seeing the different things we were intoduced to a gentleman who was working on a little device he’d invented. It looked like a beige box about 8″x12″x18″ deep with a coiled cord attached to like a 2″ stethoscope device on the end.
The gentleman went on to say that after alot of research he’d found out (through his invention) that any piece of wood, any size and shape in fact, worshipped GOD. I thought to myself that this guy is a loony bin, but he went on to show me…
He would take the stethoscope gadget and run it along the surface of the wood and all of a sudden you’d hear this blurred “Zblip” sounding noise…he went on to say, “Here’s the spot” and proceeded to slowly go back over the spot and I heard an amazing voice sing “Glory to God”! Next he says that if you carefully move your hand over the same spot but with a slightly different angle you’d hear the same line sung, only in a different voicing! I was blown away.
We went around the room trying every piece of wood we could see…and after some searching we’d find the spot, and it would sing yet another praise to the Father…”Holy is the Lord”…Blessed be the Name of God”…and on and on.
I was fascinated by the whole thing and asked the guy if I could mess with it for a while…he said yes. In my own “research” I found that it wouldn’t work on anything that had been stained, painted or varnished…but uncovered wood only.
As others of my friends showed up I would show him the amazing discovery, acting like I was a kid with a new toy! The only people I can remember specifically was a guy who is a keyboardist on my worship team and another gent who is (I realized later) an arborist by trade!
I woke up just as I was about to show the aborist the great invention…
My initial thought after waking up was about “the stones crying out in our place”, but went online to see about some dream interpretations for clarity. I found that wood can mean a negative thing like a dry time or desert places, buit this was a very positive dream so I kept digging…
I found that wood in fact also means “fresh beginnings” and “vitality”. Others I’ve shared the dream with spoke of wood (or trees) meaning Leadership and the keyboadist represents worship.
Also, the fact that the wood had to be uncovered to truly be able to worship…
There you have it…a bit wordy but I thought it was worth sharing. I believe that God is breathing on the region and we ought to lift up each other as we journey on with the Father and His mission for the Kingdom.
If you have any thoughts on it I’d love to hear them…
Blessings,
Mike

Very cool dream! I also was thinking of David Van Koevering as I just listened to his talk on “how your words can change . . .” it was really awesome definitely check it out!!!!
My impression of the dream is . . . Like back to basics. Keep it raw and unaltered. Like the only pieces of wood that sang were unvarnished.
With worship I think sometimes we get caught up in doing a lot to make the music sound better or different. But like “just worship God” even if you only have a piece of wood.
Hope that makes sense!
Very cool dream thanks for sharing!!!

Mike, a very detailed dream. Thanks for putting it online.
Maybe the significance of wood indicating a dry time is a reminder to us that even when we are in that dry place there is always a reason to praise God. I think the Psalms call it a sacrifice of praise.

As a part of that analogy (and being a guitarist) I believe the inside portions of a guitar are NOT finished… on least an acoustic guitars.
Love the dream. It is a ‘heavy’ – as I continually examine my own heart, I cant help but think about the difficulties we have in a small congregation, where you dont have many choices for worship musicians. It is so easy to pull the accomplished musician, whose walk is marginal and only comes when he or she plays rather than the ‘musician in the rough’ who has a great walk with the Lord, and doesnt care if he’s up front or in the congregation, but just wants to worship.
If anyone is interested in the more ‘scientific’ end of the dream, and would be interested in a REAL mind bender about seemingly inanimate objects, there is a Quantum Physics Scientist, responsible for the patents in probably every keyboard made, and provided science that made CD recording possible, named David Van Koevering. He is a Christian, and has a message that is available by download from The Elijah List called, “Your Words Can (and do) change Other People’s Environment.” The message actually talks about things like rocks and door knobs and engagement rings and such, actually ‘recording’ what happens around it – If it sounds unbelievable, look at your thumb drive or a plain CD. He talks about the words Joshua spoke being heard by the rocks (its in the bible)!
It adds credibility to your dream, Mike, not only as an analogy, but as a possible fact! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, way cool dream Mike! (I love dreams!)
I don’t have any comments yet on the dream itself, but wanted to thank you for sharing it. If you get any more insight on it, be sure to post it!

1st Chronicles 16: 33 Then the trees of the forest will sing, they will sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.
I think your dream speaks of Jesus imminent return. He will listen for the song of the heart. He will soon judge to see if we have removed the varnish of our fallen humanity. He will listen to the heart of each and hear which song it sings. We are/were a piece of wood emblazoned and varnished with the knowledge of good and evil. He longs to hear the song of those who have forsaken the knowledge of evil, for these are the sons of God. All of creation (including the trees) long for it as well.
Behold, He comes quickly!
