Great stuff...thanks for sharing and being transparent! I'm a firm believer in schedules. Though I'm a bit less good at giving my team songs way in advance...my bad! I am really fortunate though (and I'll use this as my excuse) that my team gels quite well having been together for a while, so I guess I just assume that they're okay with getting the songs the week we're ON. I probably should dig into this a bit further with my gang. YIPES!

As far as songwriting goes, the more I write the better for me. A bigger thing though is keeping your eyes and ears open to what God's doing in your midst whether through you or around you. I find some of the best ideas come from responding to life in His kingdom. I'm still waiting for some of Randy's older songs to go global!

I've had a flutist (Mary Davison) for years. God's blessed her with a great gift so she wings it musically and it works well. It is a bit tougher for her to fit in on some of the more electric guitar driven songs out these days though. We usually save up most of her energy for the more intimate songs as our set usually mellows out towards the end. I will tend to give Mary a bit of direction for what I'm envisioning as far as when she and our guitarist play out their parts. Without a little input it could get a bit busy!

I led this past Sunday...my set was "Furious" by Riddle, "Love Came down" by Brian Johnson, "Stronger" by Hillsong United and "Glorious Day" The Casting Crowns version during Communion.

I totally agree with Gaundee about keeping God at the center!

Any chance you could share what you've written out; just to get us started?

Thanks,

Hey Eric,
We use a flute in one of our bands. I usually write out the part for the flute on certain songs. On other songs the flute player makes up his own parts.
